- Devoid of Entities.
Description
Shortcut
Shortcut is a narrow, dead-end pathway sandwiched between two structures, such as buildings, houses, or high walls, and with an estimated unlimited length. This pathway is one to two meters wide and is cluttered with various objects, such as trash cans, which sometimes narrow the path. Both sides of the pathway are typically lined with walls covered in graffiti, locked doors, windows that cannot be opened, ventilation ducts of various sizes, and random posters plastered on the walls. This level has a cool, humid climate with a sky that is always a bright white, devoid of any visible celestial bodies. Although this level has no food sources, there are no reports of entities within it, making it relatively safe to traverse.
Not all trash cans, doors, or windows can be opened, even if survivors try to open or break them. In some locations, there are doors and windows that can be entered, allowing survivors to rest inside the rooms within the building, though there is no access to other rooms. This level is frequently visited by survivors because it offers numerous access routes to other levels; as of the time of this writing, this level is recorded as having hundreds of noclip areas leading to other levels, so survivors use this level as an alternative shortcut besides the televisions in the Saneless Show store.
Phenomenon
There is a phenomenon where this level will forcibly eject a group of survivors if there are too many people inside; the exact maximum limit of how many people can be in the level is unknown, as the occurrence is always random and difficult to predict. This phenomenon also prevents survivors from using this level as their residence. Another phenomenon occurs only to survivors who enter this level alone and disappears if the survivor navigates the level in pairs or in a group. This phenomenon involves hearing the sounds of people chatting from behind the walls; although the words spoken are unclear, it creates the feeling of being talked about, even though the survivor isn’t sure what the topic of conversation is. The two phenomena mentioned earlier are not considered particularly dangerous to survivors.
The next phenomenon requires caution: survivors must be careful when passing through areas with air vents installed in the walls, as extremely hot air can randomly burst out of these vents. This hot air heats up the ground, and the heat is intense enough to cause burns to survivors who attempt to walk through it. Warning signs have been posted advising survivors to wait until the air vents stop operating on their own—indicated by the disappearance of the loud noise coming from the vents.
Bases, Outposts, and Communities
Due to the forced ejection phenomenon mentioned earlier, no survivors are able to establish bases, outposts, or communities within this level.
Entrances and Exits
Entrances
This level can be accessed by noclipping into dead ends in various urban or residential-themed levels, though not all dead ends will lead survivors to this level.
Exits
- Survivors have marked many doors and walls that can be used to reach levels corresponding to those markers. Most markers indicate that the majority of destination levels are indoor-themed levels, such as The Crematorium.
- Survivors who are forcibly expelled from within a level will be sent back to the level they came from previously.
