Description
Danger Signs
Danger Signs is a general term for various modern-style signage found throughout the Backrooms. These signs feature a variety of colors, symbols, and white lettering that glow due to internal light sources1. These signs can be found freestanding or mounted on walls, ceilings, corridors, and lampposts. Typically, they depict evacuation routes, assembly points, medical supplies, and other navigational aids. However, survivors have reported signs with unidentified imagery, such as stairs paired with warning symbols, doors marked with skulls, or depictions of unknown entities and objects.
Danger Signs manifest randomly and may de-manifest spontaneously; the exact duration remains unknown as it varies for each instance. Furthermore, these signs are immovable and cannot be detached from their surface, regardless of the force applied.
Danger Signs come in a variety of appearances, including:
Green: This variant is highly reliable. All information provided will accurately direct or warn the survivor. This is a common variant.
Yellow: This variant is entirely unreliable. It may lead survivors to hazardous areas or locations they should not visit, though it occasionally provides accurate directions. This variant is rare.
Red: The most lethal variant. Following the instructions of a red sign virtually guarantees a fatal outcome. Resisting these signs requires significant mental fortitude, as they exert a psychological compulsion on the viewer to follow their directions. Those who resist are safe; those who succumb face their final abyss. This is a common variant.
Blue: This variant lead to random locations as described and highly sought after by survivors, as following their guidance often leads to useful supplies and items. This variant is rare.
Identifying the variant of a Danger Sign is critical for survival. Survivors are advised to determine their next course of action carefully, as these signs can drastically alter one’s journey and safety. By employing the 'Observe, Analyze, and Discuss' method developed by many survivor groups, individuals can safely navigate the anomalies presented by these signs.
